IMPORTANT INFO FROM OUR NM SECRETARY OF STATE

Regarding President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the campaign, New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver said:

"The ballot deadline has not passed in New Mexico. New Mexico follows major party rules for the selection of presidential candidates and, as long as they meet the ballot deadline of Aug. 27, 2024, whoever is nominated for president at the upcoming Democratic Convention [Aug. 19-22 in Chicago] will appear on New Mexico’s General Election ballot. I encourage voters to always seek out trusted sources of election information, like their county clerk or the Secretary of State’s office, and to verify information about voting and elections before repeating or reposting it.”

New Mexico will not hold another primary election. It is neither required by state law nor necessary under Democratic Party Rules regarding delegates.

2024 GENERAL ELECTION DATES AND TIMES

• October 8, 2024, before 5 pm: Last day to register to vote by mail or online for the Primary Election.

• October 8, 2024: First day of absentee/early voting at the County Courthouse, Mon-Fri,  8 am- 5 pm

• October 19, 2024: Early voting at alternate sites begins.

  • Times only for the alternate sites:

    • Tues - Sat, 10 am - 6 pm

  • Alternate site locations:

El Prado Water & Sanitation District Office, 1017 Paseo del Pueblo Norte

Penasco Community Center, 14136 Street Road 75

Questa Municipal Village Hall, 2500 Old St Rd 3

• October 22, 2024: Last day County Clerk may receive applications and mail absentee ballot

• November 2, 2024: Early Voting at County Courthouse ends. NOTE: This is the only Saturday voters may cast their ballot at the Courthouse between 8 am to 5 pm

• November 2, 2024: Early Voting at Alternate Site ends; voting is between 10 am - 6 pm

• November 5, 2024: Election Day, voting between 7 am and 7 pm

SAME DAY REGISTRATION

• Same day registration is available for eligible voters at the County Clerk’s office or at any polling location in the county on Election Day. Early Voting locations may also provide same day registration.

TO REGISTER OR CHANGE VOTER REGISTRATION

• Do this at NMVOTE.ORG or with a voter registration agent, or at the County Clerk's office.  

• Voter registration agents are ready to help 10 am – 4 pm Mon - Wed and 12 - 4 pm Saturdays at the Taos County Democratic Party Headquarters (corner of Paseo del Pueblo Sur & Cruz Alta).
